As of January 2019, Oracle will end its public support for commercial users. This affects all customers with Java-based Nexus products.

Changed Oracle Java support

The new Oracle support roadmap forces all commercial Java users to react on the new situation. Oracle will end the free public updates for Java 8 in January 2019 for commercial users, but will continue with paid support from there on. For more information, see Oracle Java SE Support Roadmap.

This change is different from former release changes, as there is no Java successor available that continues the free public updates: The new Java 11 release is only available for test and development purposes, but not licensed for productive usage. For more information, see Oracle Java 11 SE License. 

A free alternative is available through the open source Java variant OpenJDK. There are several vendors offering free builds of OpenJDK for Windows, Linux and Mac. Builds are offered for example by RedHat, adoptopenjdk.net and Azul. If you are using client applications based on Java Web Start, this option will not be available any longer, as OpenJDK comes without Java Web Start.

Therefore, you need to decide on how to continue with your Java installations on server and client side. One option is to get Oracle commercial support.
