This article describes how an operator initializes a temporary card for external production in Smart ID Identity Manager. Read more here: Smart ID Workforce use cases.

An ordered temporary card needs to be initialized (encoded) before it can be assigned to a user.

This use case is disabled by default. To enable it, see Enable the Initialize temporary card (external production) use case.

Prerequisites

 Prerequisites
  • The temporary card must be in state "produced" to be able to be initialized.

Step-by-step instruction for the operator

Log in to Identity Manager Operator
  1. Log in to Identity Manager Operator with your user account.
 Initialize temporary card
  1. In the SEARCH tab, select Temporary card in the drop-down list.

  2. Select state Produced in the Status drop-down list, and click Search. A list of cards with state "produced" appears.

  3. Select the card you want to initialize and click Initialize temporary card.

To cancel the process, see "Cancel the process" below.

  4. Click Next to continue. The Smart ID Desktop App will encode the card with a profile, PIN, and PUK. The card will then be in state "unassigned".
