This article describes how you as a self-service user locks an active virtual smart card in Smart ID Self-Service. The Lock virtual smart card use case is called as a sub process if a user gets deactivated, reactivated or locked. See, for example, Lock user. But it can be also used to just set the virtual smart card to locked.

Step-by-step instruction for the self-service user
Log in to Smart ID Self-Service
- Log in to Smart ID Self-Service with your user account.
Lock virtual smart card
- In Smart ID Self-Service, select Cards in the Self-Service menu.
Select the active virtual smart card that you want to lock.
- Click Possible actions and select Lock virtual smart card.
Click Next.
- A pop up is shown where you click Open Smart ID Desktop App.
- In Smart ID Desktop App, you are asked to allow that a certificate is about to be deleted. Click Allow.
The virtual smart card is locked. It disappears from Smart ID Desktop App, but is set to state locked in Self-Service.
Cancel the process
To cancel the process:
- Click Cancel to close the process.
- Click Next to proceed with the process.
