Digital Access component requirements and interoperability

This article includes updates for Digital Access 6.3.1.

Smart ID Digital Access component is deployed as docker containers and boasts simplified administration with easier deployments, upgrades and maintenance. 

This article contains requirements and interoperability details for the setup and the different parts of Digital Access component.

Supported host operating systems

  • Linux that supports the Docker and Docker Compose versions above

  • Tested on Ubuntu 20.04, RHEL 7.9, RHEL 8.5


User database services

Digital Access component stores its user representation in a database, the docker package comes with a built-in database (PostgreSQL). That means there are no requirements for external databases to get started. To read more about external database, see Database service.

The following databases has been explicitly verified:

  • MS SQL 2016, 2017, 2019

  • MySQL 5.7 and later 

  • MS Azure SQL

  • MariaDB 10.5.4-focal and later

  • Oracle 12c Release 2 (12.2.0.1.0), Oracle 11g Release 2 (11.2) and Oracle 19c (19.3) 

  • PostgreSQL 12, 13

User storage directory

Digital Access component can link to existing users stored in a directory (LDAP). The docker package is fully LDAP v3 compliant for connecting to these user storages.

The following directories has been explicitly verified:

  • Microsoft Active Directory 2003 or later 

  • Novell eDirectory 

  • OpenLDAP 

  • Sun Java system Directory Server 

  • Oracle Internet Directory (tested for authentication) 

  • Tivoli Directory Server (tested for authentication) 

  • IBM RACF LDAP (tested for authentication)

Interoperability data

Browser support

The following browsers are supported for the portal, administrator, federation, and web authentication:

  • Mozilla Firefox with any of the latest versions

  • Google Chrome with any of the latest versions

  • Edge Chromium with any of the latest versions

  • Safari with any of the latest versions

Access client

Operating systems

The following operating systems are supported for the Access client:

  • Windows 10

  • Windows Server 2016 64 Bit

  • Mac OS X 10.11 and higher

Browsers

The following browsers are supported for the access client:

  • Edge with any of the latest versions

  • Chrome with any of the latest versions

  • Firefox with any of the latest versions

Network protocol

Server Message Block (SMB) is a network protocol used to share files across systems. It is used to write to the log files in Digital Access. From Digital Access version 6.0.3, SMB version 2.0 or 2.1 is required.
