Print only back side of cards in Identity Manager

This article describes how to print only the back side of a card from Smart ID Identity Manager, by using either of the following options:

  • Option 1: Print back side first

  • Option 2: Set Front side to transparent

Option 1: Print back side first

In Identity Manager Admin, let the Front layout be empty while the Back layout remains.

  1. In Identity Manager Admin, go to Home > Cards.

  2. To select a card template for editing, double-click on its name.

  3. In the General tab, make sure that a layout is selected for the Back side, but delete the Front layout (with drag-and-drop).

Do printer settings in Card SDK to print back side first:

  1. Place the cards in the printer so that the side NOT to be printed faces up.

  2. In Card SDK Configuration Manager, double-click on Card Printer, select the printer and click Edit.

  3. Click on "..." to see more printer properties.

  4. To set the printer to print back side first:

    1. Uncheck Print on both sides.

    2. Check Print back side first.

Option 2: Set Front side to transparent

Select a card layout without text fields and set it to transparent:

  1. In Card SDK Card Designer, select any layout that does not contain text fields

    1. In the Card table view, double-click on the card type for editing.

  1. In Identity Manager Admin, go to Home > Cards.

  2. To select a card template for editing, double-click on its name.

  3. In the General tab, select the created transparent layout as the Front layout (with drag-and-drop).
