This article describes how to do initial setup for the Configuration Manager in Nexus Card SDK.
Step-by-step instructions
- Start the Configuration Manager for Card SDK from the Start menu in Windows.
In the Configuration Manager user interface there is a two-column table displaying the hardware components and the (activated) options for your system.
- Open the settings dialog boxes for the individual options and components in one of these ways:
- Select the required software option or hardware component, and then click Edit > Settings... from the menu bar, or
- Double-click on one of the items (Property or Value / Setting column).
After setting up the ID card system, the language of the installed operating system is automatically used. To change the language and do settings for the user interface:
- In Configuration Manager, open the Language & User interface property.
- Select Language.
- Select User Interface (Classic, Advanced or Modern).
- Select Color Scheme.
- Select Toolbar, click Info to see a preview of the available toolbars.
- In Configuration Manager, open the Licencing property.
- If Nexus Card SDK is accessed via a server-side application that has its own SDK licence management (for example, Nexus SmartACT), then the licensing type must be set to “Server-Side”. In this case, all licensed options are handed over from the server-side application to the local SDK components at runtime. If that is the case, select Server-Side.
Client-side licensing is required if no server-side licence management is available for the SDK components. This is usually the case when the SDK was integrated into an access control system and needs to be licensed for a local client. See Licensing for Nexus Card SDK.
The Licensing dialog box shows the options and encoding types that have been licensed for your ID card system. The number and type of available options correspond to the licensed range of functions. Click License... to activate additional options.
All options acquired with the new licences are immediately available without the need to reboot your computer. It may be necessary to restart your ID card system.
IDProductionService is a background application (service) that provides access to functions such as image capturing and ID card production. This service needs to be enabled. Use the default values (if not for diagnostic purposes).
- In Configuration Manager, click IDProductionService.
- Check Service Active to enable IDProductionService.
- These are the available settings:
The default port number for IDProductionService is 54880. If this port is already occupied (which should only occur in exceptional circumstances), you can change it.
If you change the port value, you must also change it in the applications that use the functions for image capturing and ID card production.
- If Show Active Service in the Notification Area of the Taskbar is checked, an icon will be present in the Notification area of your taskbar when the service is active.
Check Save Last Production Jobs only for diagnostic purposes and, after checking with you system provider.
Click Start Browser Interface to open the service interface in your web browser and show additional status and diagnostic information.
- If you need to restart the service, click Restart Service.
For information on uploading a PKCS#11 file for SSL connection, see Set up SSL connection to Card SDK by uploading PKCS#12 file.
In a default installation, the database is installed in C:\ProgramData\cms. The path to the connected database can be changed. However, such changes should only be made in exceptional circumstances.
The path must be changed when upgrading an unnetworked workplace to a networked workstation. In this case, a network drive is specified instead of your local drive (here C:\).
To change the path to the database:
- In Configuration Manager, the path to the current database is shown in the Value / Setting column for the DataDirectory property.
- Open the DataDirectory property. The Select new data directory dialog box opens.
- Specify the path to the new database. Click OK to save your settings.
- The selected database is the database currently connected.
